Porthkerris August bank Holiday

We’re planning a 3 – 4 day trip to Porthkerris on the Lizard peninsula in Cornwall over the August bank holiday weekend, 28 – 31 August 2020. Based at the dive centre there, we’ll be diving from the Celtic Kitten hardboat, with a lift! The plan is to do 2 dives a day, coming back to shore in between.

The diving will be at The Manacles – spectacular reefs ranging from sheer-sided pinnacles and walls from 5-40m+, along with rocks and gullies full of jewel anemones, crustaceans and plenty of fish life. The Manacle reefs have been called British scenic diving at its best – densely covered with soft corals, hydroids, and large plumose anemones, plus much more. There are several wrecks including the Mohegan, a huge Victorian steamship that sank in 1898. Its been a designated Marine Conservation Zone since 2013 because of the richness of its biodiversity.

Accommodation will be camping on site, with potential for B&B or Airbnb for any who don’t want to camp. There’s a café at the dive centre, and pubs and restaurants in nearby Porthallow and St Keverne.

2 dives plus one night camping will be approx £60, so £180 for 3 nights. There are air fills on site too, so you’ll only need one cylinder. There’s also a great shore dive from the beach, for free!

Contact Katherine if you’re interested. I’ll need a deposit to reserve the camping and diving, amount and date tbc.
